Dill Pickle Pizza Tangy, Savory, & Surprisingly Good
A little different, a little unexpected…
Way better than you’d think… The kind of pizza you didn’t expect to love this much!
There is something about dill pickle pizza that really surprises people, in the best way ever.
It definitely sounds a little different at first. Like one of those combinations that you are just not quite sure about… the kind that makes you pause on for a second before deciding if you are actually going to try it.
But then you do.
And suddenly it just works.
The tang from the pickles, the creamy base, the melted cheese, and that little bit of heat all come together in a way that feels surprisingly balanced. Nothing overpowers; nothing feels out of place, it just layers into something that is actually really good.
And it is not just the flavor; it is the contrast. The creaminess with the tang, the richness with that slight bite from the pickles, the way everything melts together but still has texture. It keeps each bite interesting, which is probably why it disappears so quickly
It is the kind of pizza that catches you off guard in the best way. Where one slice turns into two, then three… and before you know it, it is gone faster than you expected, with everyone asking when you are going to be making it again.
Hi, I’m Lindsay
I am a nutritionist who believes food should feel simple, satisfying, non-restrictive — and something that actually works in real life.
Because real life isn’t just perfectly plated “healthy” meals you see trending online. It is quick dinners, family favorites, comfort foods, and the meals you throw together when you are tired and just need something that works.
Most of what you will find here is built around supporting your hormone health, digestion, and steady energy, all without overcomplicating things or turning food into something stressful.
There’s room for all of it. Balanced meals, fun meals, everyday meals. When food is built in a way that supports your body, it doesn’t have to feel restrictive or like you are constantly starting over.
I share a mix of recipes, simple strategies, and real-life approaches to help you feel more balanced, nourished, and supported in your body — in a way that actually fits into your life
A Real-Life Favorite
This pizza started out as one of those “let’s try something different” nights at home. Something that we had heard about here and there but had never actually made ourselves.
It wasn’t planned or overthought, it was just one of those ideas that sounded interesting enough to try, with a bit of our own twist added to it. The kind of thing you throw together not really knowing how it’s going to turn out but hoping for the best.
And honestly, that is usually how the best recipes happen.
After the first bite, it quickly became one of those meals that gets requested again, and again, and again. The kind that you make once… and then keep thinking about long after it is gone.
There is something about it that just sticks. Maybe it’s the balance of flavors, maybe it’s how simple it is to put together, or maybe it’s just that it feels a little different in a way that actually works.
It’s one of those recipes that feels fun without being complicated, different without being over the top, and easy enough to come back to on a regular night, which is exactly the kind of meal I find myself making again and again.
Why This Pizza Works
This combination might not be the most traditional, but each ingredient plays a role:
Creamy dill sauce → acts as the base and ties everything together
Dill pickles → adds tang and crunch
Bacon → brings saltiness and depth
Mozzarella → melts everything into that classic pizza texture
Jalapeños → add a subtle kick
Chili flakes (optional) → for extra heat and balance.
It is the mix of creamy, tangy, salty, and slightly spicy that makes this pizza so satisfying.
Not your typical pizza toppings…
But this is where the magic begins!
Dill Pickle Pizza
Ingredients:
Dill pickles, sliced
Jalapeños, sliced
Bacon bites (homemade or store-bought)
Mozzarella cheese
Red chili flakes (optional, for topping after baking)
For the crust
My all time favorite to use is the sourdough pizza crust from Little Spoon Farm:
https://littlespoonfarm.com/sourdough-pizza-crust-recipe/
But you can use whatever pizza crust that you and your family love.
Instructions
Preheat your cast iron/pizza stone and your oven according to your pizza crust directions.
Stretch or place your pizza dough onto a cast iron, pizza stone, or baking sheet.
Spread a generous layer of the dill pickle sauce over the base.
Add the toppings and mozzarella cheese evenly across the pizza.
Cook according to your pizza crust instructions, until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and finish with red chili flakes if desired.
Layer it up - sauce, toppings, and cheese…
Simple steps that come together and turn into something super tasty!
Tips for the Best Flavor
Don’t overload the sauce A generous but not too thick, even layer keeps the crust from getting too soft.
Balance the toppings Too many pickles can overpower. Aim for even distribution.
Add heat if you like it Jalapeños and chili flakes help balance the richness of the sauce.
Use a good crust A sturdy, but not too thick of a sourdough crust works really well with these toppings.
Pair It With
This pizza pairs really well with:
A simple Caesar or green salad
Roasted vegetables
A lighter side to balance the richness
